Description
The Texas Classroom Teachers Association (“TCTA”) is a non-profit association that represents teachers, counselors, diagnosticians, librarians, and other instructional professionals throughout the state. We are seeking a Staff Attorney to join our legal department to provide employment-related legal advice and representation to our members.
A TCTA Staff Attorney’s practice consists largely of administrative proceedings before school district boards of trustees, the State Board for Educator Certification, The State Office of Administrative Hearings and the Commissioner of Education. Common areas of representation include grievances regarding working conditions, appraisal matters, contract nonrenewal or termination defense, discrimination claims, public information and open meetings, student discipline, investigation of educator misconduct and defense of certification disciplinary complaints.
TCTA offers a benefits package that includes personal and sick leave, paid holidays, 401k with matching, medical and dental insurance. We offer a flexible work environment with possible opportunities for remote work depending on location and experience. The position requires in-person attendance at some events, including hearings and other legal proceedings, and the successful candidate will be expected to train in the office at TCTA headquarters in Austin. We offer a salary that is competitive within the practice area of School Law and is commensurate with experience.
We are a professional and supportive workplace and are deeply committed to our work. Our ideal candidate is one who shares those values and is interested in building a career with us. For more information about us and what we do, please visit our website at www.tcta.org.
