The next leader of Raise Your Hand (RYH) will inherit a small but mighty organization that is ready to grow into the future. Supported by a strong and dedicated team of three, the board will be looking for the Executive Director to facilitate the strategic planning session, implement a new “Theory of Change”, cultivate and maintain active foundation relationships and support the work of empowering CPS parents throughout the Chicagoland area
Raise Your Hand is in an important moment of organizational evolution and we are seeking a leader that will move the RYH into the future with strategy, vision and passion. The Executive Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations and will oversee and participate in the strategic decision-making process, while continuing RYH’s history of city-wide campaigns and collaborations. We require a multi-skilled leader that will maximize and strengthen the internal capacity and the external work of a well-respected organization.
This role and this moment of organizational transition will require someone that can lead, fundraise, cultivate and maintain relationships, work with partners and balance the big picture with appropriate operational oversight. We are seeking a leader who can articulate what RYH is, why it matters and why foundations and donors should invest in it, and then lead the charge to executive on that vision.
We offer:
Annual Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000 per year dependent upon experience
Work Environment: Remote role based in Chicago, IL with expectations for regular in-person meetings and staff togetherness
Role Type: Salaried, Full-Time, Exempt position, expected 35 hours per week or more Nights and weekends are often required for Raise Your Hand, especially during the Local School Council and School Board election periods.

Requirements
Understanding of Chicago’s organizing, public education policy, philanthropic and civic, ecosystem and/or ability to learn and navigate those relationships quickly.
An understanding of systemic inequities in the public education sector with a track record of organizing wins, leading campaigns and coalition building, in addition to designing or supporting initiatives that expand access for parent engagement and reduce barriers.
A healthy and inclusive leadership approach, that includes good communication and interpersonal skills.
A strategic, empathetic and forward-thinking leader who can see the bigger picture and has active listening skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a leadership team, prioritizing transparency, shared responsibility, and collective problem-solving.
Ability to hold and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-moving environment.
Personal familiarity with public education is a plus.
Must be savvy with technology – understanding Google Suite, Quickbooks, etc.
