Summary Description of Position
This position reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for day-to-day implementation and administration of the organization, its educational programs, and its stakeholder engagement. CALJAN is a new 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization affiliated with Jewish Federation Los Angeles (“JFEDLA”) with office space at Jewish Federation Los Angeles building.
CALJAN Mission
Recognizing that considerations and actions taken by local school boards, city councils, boards of supervisors, the California State Legislature, and other public officials directly and materially impact our Jewish community’s safety, security, and ongoing wellbeing, the mission of California Jewish Action Network is to (1) educate our community towards greater participation in government and politics; (2) encourage and facilitate deeper involvement by individual community members in local and state political campaigns and processes; and (3) make available those tools necessary to accomplish these goals.
Principal Duties
- Assist in the implementation of education and training programs and creation of related collateral, as well as regular external communications to key stakeholders.
- Support the establishment of grassroots engagement networks and provide ongoing support and collaboration with the networks’ volunteer chairs and members.
- Support the tracking of network stakeholder relationships.
- Support the execution of fundraising strategy for CALJAN’s operating budget.
- Assist in political research and stakeholder mobilization.
- Work with the Executive Director to ensure compliance with all legal and ethical guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned.
Additional Duties
- Be available to the CALJAN Board of Directors and lay leadership for additional assignments as needed.

Requirements
Education & Experience Required for Position
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree OR minimum of three years’ relevant experience working on election campaigns, at a political advocacy organization, in Jewish nonprofit development, and/or in the office of an elected official required.
- Knowledge of the Los Angeles and California Jewish community and Israel and Middle East geo-politics required.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills required.
- Superior judgment and decision-making skills; ability to confront, prioritize and solve multiple complex problems at once; commitment to ethics and legal compliance required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with people inside and outside the organization.
- Strong administrative skills, including the ability to engage in many projects simultaneously, set priorities and manage expectations.
- Experience in program planning, advocacy, and budget administration required.
- Strong initiative, responsiveness and ability to work collaboratively.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
- Experience in Jewish Federation system or Jewish communal field preferred.
- A hybrid work model may be implemented, and this position must report to worksite (6505 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90048) on non-remote workdays and must be able to attend offsite meetings if so directed.
