Description
The Michigan Institute for Data and AI in Society (MIDAS) at the University of Michigan is seeking applications for our postdoctoral and faculty fellowship programs. These programs provide outstanding early-career researchers and early-to-mid-career African faculty researchers with intensive AI and data science experience to enable breakthroughs across research fields.
MIDAS promotes advancements in data science and AI, and enables their transformative use in a wide range of research disciplines to achieve lasting scientific and societal impact. Fellows will work in an intellectually vibrant environment, build interdisciplinary relationships with other Fellows and over 650 MIDAS affiliate faculty.

The Eric and Wendy Schmidt AI in Science Postdoctoral Fellowship: This 2-year program aims to enable the substantive use of AI for breakthroughs in biological science, earth and environmental science, engineering, the physical sciences, and mathematics. Applications due Nov 30, 2025. myumi.ch/z9yPy
The Eric and Wendy Schmidt AI in Science African Faculty Fellowship: This 2-year program supports faculty members and researchers in similar positions in Africa to apply AI to research in biological science, earth and environmental science, engineering, the physical sciences, and mathematics. The program comprises 12-month residency at the U-M Ann Arbor campus and 12 months in the Fellow’s home institution in Africa.
