About OIA
Based in Boulder, Colorado, the Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) is a 501(c)6 nonprofit trade association. Our member-led collective is the outdoor industry's catalyst for meaningful change. We unite and serve manufacturers, suppliers, sales representatives, and retailer members through a focus on trade and recreation policy, sustainable business innovation, research, advocacy, and outdoor participation. OIA also established and sponsors the Outdoor Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, with a mission centered on engaging American youth in active, outdoor lifestyles and nature-based education and activities.
About the Position
This is a part-time contractor role, estimated at 5–15 hours per week, with a fully remote work arrangement. The Education Consultant supports OIA's online learning initiatives by developing and producing multimedia course content within OIA's Learning Management System (LMS). This role combines video editing, writing, and project management to deliver high-quality educational experiences for outdoor industry professionals.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Produce and edit video-based learning content for OIA's online course library
Write and refine course text, including transcripts, summaries, and supporting materials
Manage course assets, files, and project timelines to ensure consistent and timely content delivery
Collaborate with the OIA Marketing team and Education staff to support course promotion and quality
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Technical Competency
- Video Editing : Edit and produce video course content using Premiere Pro or equivalent software, including cutting clips, tweaking audio, resizing/cropping footage, and covering on-screen text as needed.
- Writing & Content Development: Create and refine course transcripts using AI-assisted tools, formatting content into bullet points, introductions, key takeaways, and long-form text; edit for clarity, accuracy, and readability to avoid redundancy or AI-generated artifacts.
- LMS & Course Production: Build and format course content within the Eurekos LMS platform; select stock photos and apply brand colors; make minor layout adjustments in PowerPoint Online.
Project & File Management: Organize and manage course assets in Box; provide the Marketing team with relevant video clips and text excerpts for course promotion; attend weekly check-in meetings (approx. 30 min.) and respond promptly via Microsoft Teams.
Qualifications
- Entry-level video editing skills, with ability to cut, crop, and adjust audio in Premiere Pro or similar software
- Solid writing and copyediting skills, with an understanding of writing for online education, blogs, or professional publications
- Ability to work with AI-assisted transcription tools and refine outputs for quality and readability
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Ability to manage digital files and assets across multiple platforms
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint Online)
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and online education platforms
- Ability to follow brand style guides for consistent visual and written presentation
- Strong communication skills and responsiveness in a remote, collaborative environment
Required Education and Experience
- Experience in video editing, digital content production, or a related multimedia field
- Demonstrated writing and editing ability (samples may be requested)
- Comfort working independently in a part-time, remote capacity (5–15 hours/week)
Preferred Education and Experience
- Background in instructional design, e-learning, or online education content development
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud and/or Premiere Pro
- Familiarity with copywriting for marketing, professional development, or educational audiences
- Experience with file-sharing platforms such as Box
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Experience in or familiarity with the outdoor industry is considered a plus
