Position Overview
The Executive Director serves as the Chief Executive Officer of VEIF, responsible for the organization’s overall leadership, operational excellence, and strategic advancement. Working in close partnership with the Board of Trustees, investment advisors, and diocesan leadership, the Executive Director ensures that VEIF operates with integrity, discipline, and a clear focus on both financial performance and mission alignment.

Summary of Responsibilities
Organizational Leadership & Strategy
Lead the day-to-day operations and long-term strategic direction of VEIF
Ensure effective implementation of Board-approved policies and initiatives
Oversee staffing, organizational structure, and internal systems to support excellence
Investment Oversight
Serve as the primary liaison to investment advisors and custodians
Monitor portfolio performance and ensure rigorous, transparent reporting
Support the Board in maintaining a disciplined, long-term investment approach
Board Partnership & Governance
Partner closely with the Board of Trustees to advance mission and strategy
Prepare and present reports, insights, and recommendations
Support strong governance practices and effective Board engagement
Participant Engagement & External Relations
Serve as the primary ambassador for VEIF to participants and the broader community
Build and sustain trusted relationships with Episcopal parishes and institutions
Ensure clear, timely, and high-quality communication with all stakeholders
Growth & Expansion
Lead efforts to expand participation in the Funds
Develop and execute thoughtful outreach and business development strategies
Oversee responses to RFPs and prospective participant inquiries

Requirements
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be a seasoned financial professional and an accomplished leader, bringing both technical expertise and relational strength. The candidate will have:
Approximately 15 years of experience in investment management, financial analysis, or client service.
Demonstrated success in leading organizations or complex functions.
A strong understanding of investment performance, reporting, and fiduciary responsibilities.
Exceptional communication skills, including public speaking and written communication.
The ability to build trust and credibility with a wide range of stakeholders.
A collaborative leadership style and experience working with governing boards.
Familiarity with the Episcopal Church and a genuine commitment to understanding and supporting its mission.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in Finance, Business, or related field
Professional designations such as CFA, CIMA, or CFP
Location & Compensation
Based in the Diocesan Office at 110 West Franklin Street, Richmond, Virginia
Primarily in office with some flexibility for remote work
Modest travel required
Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience, aligned with the Diocese of Virginia. Minimum salary is $150K plus a competitive benefits package.
