Nestled on over 1,000 acres just before the bridge to Hilton Head Island, Moss Creek is home to two Tom Fazio-designed championship golf courses , stunning natural landscapes, and a vibrant private club community. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside an experienced leadership team and play a key role in maintaining premier golf conditions for our members and guests. What You'll Do As the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent, you will help lead the daily operations of our golf course maintenance team and support the Superintendent and Director of Golf & Grounds Maintenance in delivering exceptional course conditions.
Responsibilities include:
Assisting with the maintenance of tees, greens, fairways, roughs, lagoons, and cart paths
Supervising and developing Equipment Operators, Irrigation Technicians, and Spray Technicians
Scheduling work assignments and maximizing the efficient use of resources
Training employees on equipment operation and safe work practices
Applying pesticides and calibrating and maintaining application equipment
Maintaining a clean and organized chemical facility
Assisting with irrigation, drainage systems, and pump operations
Supporting employee development, safety initiatives, and performance management
Performing daily course setup and filling in for supervisory staff as needed
Assisting Community Maintenance operations when necessary
What We're Looking For Required Qualifications:
Turf degree, Turf Certificate, or a minimum of five (5) years of applicable golf course maintenance experience
Pesticide Application Certification
Valid driver's license
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Strong mathematical aptitude, including budgeting, measurements, and equipment calibration
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet applications
Ability to read, write, and understand English
Physical Requirements This position is primarily outdoors and requires the ability to:
Stand, walk, bend, stoop, crawl, and lift 50+ pounds
Work in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, and rain
Thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
