Description
Business FunctionGroup Finance aims to deliver world-class standards in reporting, financial planning and finance processes. We provide insights and analyses that help the bank make sound business decisions - whether in the areas of product development or customer profitability. We also provide capital management, business planning, forecasting, and tax and accounting advisory services.
The bank is also a certified Accredited Training Organisation (ATO) for the Singapore Qualification Programme by the Singapore Accountancy Commission and an Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Approved Employer.
The Business Finance & Strategy Support function works within the Group Finance support unit and is responsible for providing all MIS business performance, financial, accounting and capital support relating to Global Financial Markets (GFM) businesses across the region within the Bank.
This includes supporting GFM business strategies in areas of regulatory, accounting, valuation, business performance reviews, as well as monitoring market development in these landscapes and assessing the impact of changes on GFM.
Responsibilities
You will be a strategic business partner responsible for guiding, shaping and executing the financial and strategic direction of our regional GFM businesses. The role focuses on working closely with business groups to drive long-term growth, define overall financial strategy, and at the same time, integrating risk & controls framework to identify and mitigate financial risks for GFM.
The key strategic pillars include:
Driving business performance and growth
- Partner GFM heads and other customer groups to support strategy formulation and refinement across strategic initiatives, product expansions and emerging financial opportunities in key market segments and countries.
- Partner GFM to review business models, enhance operational efficiency, scale growth and cross-sell, and extract business value.
- Partner business leaders to conduct periodic strategy reviews, assess market shifts, evaluation opportunities, and deliberate on strategic choices and trade-offs.
- Provide business insights on profitability reviews, financial / non-financial performance, as well as balance sheet, funding and capital utilisation vis-à-vis business strategies.
- Connect the dots and drive cross collaboration across business groups beyond GFM, to align and implement consistent revenue recognition and ongoing performance tracking mechanism.
- Build a data-driven culture to provide insights to steer business decisions and outcomes.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to re-engineer, re-design & develop frameworks, control towers, workflows & workbenches where required to deliver business insights and/or enhance accuracy and timeliness of reporting.
- Monitor market trends and competitive landscapes relating to strategic initiatives and work with business to identify risks & opportunities.
- Build business cases including market sizing, financial projections, synergy assessments and risk analysis
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field; Masters or CFA is preferred
- Minimum of 12 years within the financial services industry
- Proven experience as business strategy support role, particularly within treasury or capital markets; Treasury or trading experience or banking consultancy experience with a top tier firm and/or with strategy functions of leading banks is preferred
- Strong understanding of treasury markets products, pricing and market landscape, regulations and best practice
- Demonstrated ability to drive financial strategy and deliver financial results
- Excellent leadership, senior stakeholder management, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with data analytics and business intelligence tools to translate
- Strong analytical & problem-solving skills, as well as strategic & critical thinking
- Strong control mindset and understanding of regulatory landscape
- Independent, self-starter, nimble and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Proven ability to collaborate and influence stakeholders at all levels
- Proven ability to communicate complex data and information clearly and concisely to diverse, non-financial stakeholders
