Head of Poetry Center, Rosenmann-Taub’s Archive
The Hispanic Society Museum & Library (HSM&L), in collaboration with the Corda Foundation, is establishing a Poetry Center, a new initiative dedicated to celebrating Hispanic and Latin American poetry and advancing the legacy of David Rosenmann-Taub through his poetry, music, and drawings. The position is grant funded and reports to the Director & CEO.
The HSM&L is seeking a head of the Poetry Center who will lead the Center’s programs, exhibitions, publications, and digital initiatives, while also serving as steward of Rosenmann-Taub’s archive. This is a unique opportunity to shape a new cultural initiative within a historic institution, engaging audiences locally, nationally, and globally.
Key Responsibilities
- Exhibitions & Programs: Conceive, organize, and present exhibitions, readings, lectures, and workshops highlighting Hispanic and Latin American poetry and related art forms.
- Educational Engagement: Develop programs for a wide range of audiences, from scholars and poets to students and the general public.
- Digital Presence: Create and manage content for the Poetry Center’s online platform, including poems, essays, video clips, news, and interactive resources.
- Archive Stewardship: Oversee the Archive of David Rosenmann-Taub, ensuring its preservation, accessibility, and integration into programming and research.
- Scholarly & Artistic Collaboration: Cultivate relationships with poets, writers, scholars, and cultural institutions to expand the reach and relevance of the Center.
- Visitor & Research Support: Facilitate access to the archive for researchers and coordinate scholarly engagement.
- Institutional Contribution: Collaborate with HSM&L colleagues on cross-disciplinary projects, integrating poetry with visual arts, music, dance, film, and literature.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree (Master’s or Doctorate) in a relevant field (literature, cultural studies, arts administration, or related).
- Bilingual fluency and deep familiarity in Spanish and English; knowledge of Portuguese strongly preferred.
- Deep familiarity with Hispanic and Latin American poetry and demonstrated passion for poetry and the arts.
- Strong record of communication and public engagement, including event organization and/or teaching.
- Experience creating written, visual, and digital content for diverse platforms.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills; ability to manage projects independently and collaboratively.
- Familiarity with the works of David Rosenmann-Taub and established connections in the literary and academic communities of Hispanic and Latin American poetry are significant assets.

Compensation and Benefits
Salary range is estimated between $90,000 and $110,000 commensurate with experience.

Paid Time Off includes:
o 3 weeks’ vacation (pro-rated in first year).

About the Hispanic Society Museum & Library
The Hispanic Society Museum & Library was founded in New York City in 1904 with the purpose of advancing the study and appreciation of the art, literature, and culture of Spain, Portugal, Latin America, and the Philippines. Today, the museum and library collections from antiquity through the early 20th century are widely recognized as the most comprehensive in scope and quality outside of Spain. Museum highlights include numerous masterworks by El Greco, Velázquez, Goya, and Sorolla; sculpture by Pedro de Mena and Luisa Roldán; Latin American paintings
by Vázquez, López de Arteaga, Rodríguez Juárez, Arrieta and Campeche; as well as masterpieces in all areas of the decorative arts. Recent additions include works by Jose Clement Orozco and Pablo Picasso.
